The scientist suggested using amber as an additive to fuel

The Baltic coast of the Kaliningrad region has been known since ancient times for its deposits of amber, used (after appropriate processing) to create jewelry. But not every piece of amber can turn into an exquisite brooch or luxurious beads. A large part of it is unsuitable for processing.

Boris Vorotnikov, head of the department of chemistry at the Kaliningrad Technical University, says that he has found a worthy use of amber wastes, for which they must be dissolved. Liquid amber was a unique additive for fuel in low temperature conditions. The freezing point is about minus 100 ° С.

In addition, with the help of an amber liquid, it is possible to remove ice, wash off ice from the car, “expel” water from the engine and clean the fuel filters. Inspired by the success of the scientist has already started to create a fuel additive based on liquid amber. In a word, in the near future the local amber industry will have something to do.

For the sake of justice, it should be noted that Vorotnikov is far from being the first to become interested in unknown properties of amber. In the mid-90s, while on a scientific mission in Switzerland, he got acquainted with the works of local alchemists of the Middle Ages, who “provoked” him to tackle this topic.
